I've always been one to take good care of my skin health not only for appearance, but more importantly because of the many essential tasks it does for my body. Not only does it protect me from getting exposed to the daily bacteria in my surroundings, it definitely protects me from getting exposed to harmful UV rays from the scorching sun that damages skin cells. Since young, my mum has educated me on how important it is to maintain a good skincare routine daily and shared tips with me on the various ways I can maintain healthier skin.

First of all, did you know that Chia Seed is known to provide nutrition and moisture to your skin? It's a super water holding seed that has the ability to absorb ten times its weight in water ― meaning your skin can now be boosted and cushioned with a higher hydration level. I've always known Chia Seeds to be a healthy option for consumption, but never did I find out until recently about how much it can benefit our skin too!

Chia Seeds contain various minerals, vitamins, nutrient energy and also vitamin A, B, C, D, and E ― which can serve as an antioxidant and fight against wrinkles and redness for a more subtle skin. This miraculous seed from South America originated from a sprout, an ideal organic base material that is only grown clean with no chemical fertilizers. Amazingly enough, these Chia Seeds are still power-packed with nutrients through the manufacturing process of the products, such as Omega 3 fatty acids for smoother skin. All in all, it's hugely beneficial how much this superfood can bring to our bodies. Wouldn't it be great if we could infuse this eco-friendly product into a cosmetic and provide premium naturalism simultaneously?

Today, I'll be sharing some of the top skincare tips on looking beautiful inside out using THEFACESHOP Chia Seed beauty product range.

1) Cleanse your face 1-2 times daily

In most cases, especially for dry or combination skin, you should be washing your face twice daily to get debris out of your pores so that your skin can breathe. Subsequently, the products that you apply (e.g. toner and moisturizer) can also be properly absorbed through. However, some dermatologists say, unless you have a skin condition (e.g. acne), you only need to wash your face once a day ― in the evening. The purpose of night time cleansing helps to remove makeup, pollutants and other dirt collected on the skin. I personally wash my face once every morning and night, or during after-workout periods or when my skin feels excessively oily to prevent any possible breakouts.

2) Always keep your skin hydrated

Keeping your skin hydrated is vital not only for the health of your skin but also for your body to function well. Because our bodies are made up of 70% water, drinking at least 2 liters of water daily while keeping it well hydrated will help it run at an optimum level. When it comes to your facial skin, neglecting the right amount of hydration needed causes common problems such as wrinkles, blemishes and acne. With THEFACESHOP Chia Seed Moisture Recharge Serum, it helps to normalize excessive sebun secretion, reduce pores and also hydrate the skin to leave your face with a smooth and radiant glow all day long. It's greatly important to apply face serum on your skin to restore moisture and elasticity to the skin, also providing brightening effects.

How to apply: Apply on the last stage of skin care an appropriate amount of the cream, while gently massaging it along the skin texture and patting your facial skin lightly.

3) Get 7-8 hours of beauty sleep

Sleep is food for your skin because a good night's rest gets your body to remove dead cells to replace with new ones. In fact, not only does lack of sleep negatively affect your body, it deprives your skin from moisture, lowering pH levels and results in a less youthful look to your skin. We don't want those dark circles to start developing, do we? Your skin is the window to what's going on in your body internally, so a lack of sleep will result in an aftermath on your face, such as dull complexion, breakouts and even flaky skin! I'm certainly one who sleeps late and will definitely start trying to change my sleeping habits for an I-woke-up-like-this glowing look!

Go ahead, snooze away!

4) Moisturize immediately after showering

Its been known that dermatologists say the best time to apply a moisturizer is right after leaving the shower. By doing so, the product is able to trap some of the water still on your body and use it to hydrate your skin. All you need to do is pat your skin with a towel until it reaches a stage whereby it's almost dry, before moisturizing your skin. THEFACESHOP Chia Seed Moisture Recharge Cream not only helps to stimulate the natural cell renewal of the skin, the Chia Seeds are an excellent source of antioxidants that will leave your skin with the right amount of moisture it needs. What I personally like the most is how it also aids in removing the skin from the light and giving my face a matte appearance.

How to apply: Use a swirling motion to blend the moisturizer into your skin. Use your ring finger and rub gently to prevent tugging or tearing your delicate skin. Allow it to dry before applying makeup.

5) Remember your sunblock

One thing I never forget to slap on is layers of sunscreen every day to prevent premature aging, wrinkles and age spots forming on my skin. With such a scorching weather in Singapore all year round, we can't miss letting our skin suffer from the damages that can even result to skin cancer! By shielding ourselves from harmful UV rays just by a simple step each day before heading outdoors, it even prevents sunburns and provides as a good cosmetic option through doubling up as a cream for coverage.

On top of that, THEFACESHOP Chia Seed series also include Cleansing Foam and No Shine Hydrating Water. THEFACESHOP Chia Seed Cleansing Foam helps remove impurities trapped in your pores, leaving your skin feeling fresh and clean. Plus, it's suitable for all skin types! As for THEFACESHOP Chia Seed No Shine Hydrating Water, it's a wipe-off type pore cleansing toner that mildly delivers moisture and controls serum with cotton seed. To make an optimal skin condition, the skin's moisture retention capability is enhanced with the Moisture HUG System.

Hope you've learnt something new through this article on the benefits of Chia Seeds, and took away some useful skincare tips for a better, healthier you :) I'll see you over on my Instagram!
